Leap Year

Crap.

I missed it. It only comes once every four years, and I forgot to write my post.  Guess I was too busy just living every day life.

Here are a few fun facts about leap year:

It actually takes 365.242 days for the earth to rotate around the sun. So to keep winter in January we add an extra day to our calendar every four years.  There is a slight discrepancy with the actual solar year, so leap year is omitted three times every four hundred years.  This is way more complicated than I ever imagined!  It gets more complicated, and honestly, I lost interest in the details.  So I will only tell you the good stuff.

The chances of being born on leap year are one in 1,461.  They have a special club called the Honor Society for Leap Day Babies and a website.  Hmmm...interesting.  Glad I wasn't born on February 29.

Leap Day got me thinking about the last leap year.  It was uneventful.  Trying to remember....oh yeah.  2008.  My husband was about to find out what type of helicopter he would fly and if we would be East Coast or West Coast residents.  Huh.  That was a little stressful.  Maybe we had already found out.  It's a little foggy.  Maybe we were on our way across country to our new home in sunny, California.  Again, foggy.  Four years is a long time.

My, how much has changed in four years.  We purchased our first home. We traveled abroad.  We had our first baby. Plus, all the other significant things that happened in-between.

What about you?  Where were you last leap year?

And...where will we be next leap year?!
